I made it!

Hi friends! Happy Friday and happy long weekend! My husband is off today so we get four days to play! Whoo hoo! Headed to Disneyland in a bit!

So I have been wanting to make something to house all of my hair accessories and jewelry and pretty things FOREVER and finally did something about it this week! Look at this mess I had going on…eww.

110_5355

Thanks once again to Pinterest, I found a great tutorial HERE for how to take an old yucky frame and make it into a lovely organizer!

Check it out…

First, I hit up the Goodwill and found this gem.

Sphinx Frame

Apparently this is a painting of Mary and the baby Jesus snoozing the sphinx on their way to Egypt? And the original hangs at Hearst Castle. Thanks to my nerdy husband for Googling that for me…

It was the only frame I could find that had any detail on it. And by the way, my Goodwill is NOT cheap. I paid $6 for that. My sister wants the print though so I guess it’s a cheap gift and crafty project in one! SCORE.

I just followed the tute which was super simple {ok fine my husband attached the chicken wire for me}! And here’s is how it turned out!

110_5362

I love it! See that pretty tray that has all my headbands? I made that too. It’s a tray made of FABRIC. I have a few tweaks to make before they are ready for the general public but they will be hitting the shop ASAP!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend with time to make something pretty! Have a happy day!

{recipe reviews}

Hi there! I’ve been cooking lots of yummy things this week so I thought I’d share with you a few of the things we loved!

*photos via Pinterest*

Green Salad with Quinoa

image

There’s that quinoa again! Seriously I can’t get enough of the stuff! I served this with roast chicken. Such a great salad! Packed with all kinds of good for you things. Instead of making the dressing {because I’m lazy}, I used TJ’s Fat Free Balsamic Vinaigrette…it’s one of our faves.

Cheater Churros

image

My son lovingly refers to churros as “sprinkle dogs”…I guess because they’re shaped like hotdogs and have sprinkles? He is a pretty funny kid! We LOVED these! SOOOOOOOOO easy and seriously delish. I took them to Bunco too.

Sprinkle Dogs

Spinach Artichoke Pasta

I haven’s actually made this yet so I can’t “review” it, but it’s what’s on the menu tonight and I’m pretty sure we’ll love it. How can you go wrong with cream cheese and artichokes? I’ll be doing whole wheat rotini instead of the shells because we try to be whole wheat people as much as possible and because the rotini was on sale!

I am doing a little crafting today so make sure to come back tomorrow to see my awesome new hair accessory/jewelry organizer thingy!!!

Have a happy day :)

What I love Wednesday!

Hi friends! I hope you are having a lovely day! The sun is shining and I know what we are having for dinner {chicken enchiladas} so I have declared it a good day!

Here are some of the things I am loving this week via the awesomeness that is Pinterest

image

Tissue wrapped cookies with a monogrammed sticker. I’m planning a bridal shower and I’m thinking these will be the favors.

image

Love this Weekender Tote Tutorial. I’ll be making one to accompany me on all our summer adventures!

image

My front door needs this summer wreath in a major way {yes, my Easter egg wreath is still hanging…bad crafter}.

image

Love this cute casual outfit and I already have all {or at least very similar} these things! Yayee for shopping in your own closet!

image

And lastly, with my newly discovered love of quinoa, you can bet that I’ll be whipping this Quinoa with Lemon and Asparagus up very soon!

If you’re not on Pinterest, but want to be, let me know and I’ll send you an invite!

Stay tuned because I’ll be sharing some yummy recipes tomorrow and Friday I’m sharing how I fixed my hairclip storage problem. Have a happy day!

P.S. Have you entered the Sew Mama Sew giveaway yet? It closes Friday!

Let’s make something yummy today!

Good morning! The sun is shining {kind of} and I declare myself HEALTHY!!! No more plague…yahoo!

So yesterday I told you about my love {ok fine, unnatural obsession} of Pinterest. Well, today I am going to share a yummy recipe that my friend Stacy pinned!

Have you jumped on the quinoa band wagon yet? Until yesterday, I hadn’t either! It’s a grain somewhere between brown rice and cous cous. It’s kind of nutty tasting and it is YUM. Super filling and packed with protein and vitamins.

Quinoa & Black Bean Salad with Avocado

full recipe

This makes tons. I had it for lunch and dinner yesterday and there is still enough for at least 3 more portions. I am back to Weight Watchers full force to get back to goal before the little man gets out of school. With yummy recipes like this…I’d say I’m well on my way! If you are on Weight Watchers…it’s 8 PP. If you’re not…it’s just super healthy and good for you!

Have a happy day friends!

{What I Love Wednesday}

Hi there friends! I am linking up with Krystina at Lollipops today for her “What I Love Wednesday” Linky party! I am always so inspired by the posts I see over there!

So here we go…this is what I’m loving this week!

What I Love 5-17

1. California Necklace from tru.che on Etsy
2. Chicken Wire Frame to hold jewelry and hairclips…mine are a mess! I will be making this and featuring it SOON!
3. {brand new} coffee cuffs from Sew Chatty! This one is sporting a ruffle made from a vintage flour sack!
4. I was sick and BORED this week and discovered Pinterest and Polyvore! Watch out friends! I am a pinning MACHINE. This is a little spring outfit I created on Polyvore from items that I’ve “pinned” on Pinterest. I would love to wear these pretties on a date day with my Hubs.

If you haven’t gotten the memo about Pinterest yet…it is AMAZING. I read a ton of blogs and like to bookmark things, but that gets crazy out of control and I can never find anything when I need it. Enter Pinterest! A virtual cork board of sorts that lets you make “boards” and “pin” photos and links to pretty things! Love.

If you’re on Pinterest, feel free to come follow me! If you’re not and you want to be, let me know! I think I have a few invites left.

Don’t forget to enter my current giveaways!

Have a happy day!

Bamboo Cutting Board {GIVEAWAY} Sponsored by Freschetta!

*THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED*

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of FRESCHETTA® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hi everyone! I am so excited about the giveaway I get to share with you today!

A few weeks back I was approached by Freschetta to review one of their tasty new Simply Inspired Pizzas and they also sent me a really fabulous bamboo cutting board! I can't wait for all the summer entertaining because we almost always have a fruit and cheese tray!

Well, the pizza is great! We all have those nights when we just don't have the time or the energy to cook and frozen pizza is our best friend! 15 minutes in the oven and a bag salad...voila...dinner!

We tried the FRESCHETTA® Simply…Inspired™ "Harvest Supreme". I like veggies, hubs like meat so it was a good choice. The crust gets really crispy, but most importantly it tasted good, which is important to me!

Something unique that Freschetta is doing, their packaging has a FRESCH-TASTE SEAL™ which locks in the flavors, while using 30% less packaging material...love that!

And now for the best part! Freschetta is giving one of you a coupon to try one of their yummy new pizzas for FREE & giving away this beautiful bamboo cutting  board just like mine!
See how it opens up? There are even some fun cutting and serving tools in there!

I think you're going to love it!

To enter the giveaway just comment below and tell me how your family entertains friends and family during the summer months!
Visit freschettasimplyinspired.com to learn more about their eight great-tasting varieties, and find which flavor is simply… you! Check out @FreschettaSI on Twitter and “Like” www.facebook.com/FreschettaSim… on Facebook! Their Facebook page offers weekly giveaways of awesome prizes through the rest of 2011. Also, starting soon, they will be offering the opportunity to download a $2 off coupon for FRESCHETTA® Simply Inspired on our Facebook page.

The giveaway will be open for a full week. Winner will be chosen next Wednesday. US residents only please. Good luck everyone! Have a great day!
