Work in Progress…A Scrappy Log Cabin Quilt

110_2899

Since my scrap bin was getting way out of control, I decided to make a quilt from some of my favorite bits and pieces! It’s still a work in progress, but I am quilting it and attaching the binding today. I will post pics next week of the finished product.  Here is a pick of the finished quilt top!

A new quilt…

Not sure if I will keep this all to myself or if I will list it in the shop…guess it depends on how in love with it I am when it’s all finished! I have a ton of scraps piling up and I needed to make them into something pretty so I thought I’d whip up a Scrappy Log Cabin Quilt. I am making it a little bigger than the original pattern…adding an extra block to each row. I have five of nine blocks done. Feels good to clear the scrap box out!

This week’s dinner menu…

mpm-1

Busy week ahead and we then leave for a mini vacation to Pismo Beach on Friday YAY!!!! Can’t wait to get out of town for a few days and enjoy the fam. Feels great to have a menu plan in place and not have to worry about dinner since there is always so much to do before leaving home…packing, cleaning, all that fun stuff. Here’s our menu for the week…

Monday: Grilled steak with orzo salad and garlic bread

Tuesday: Crock Pot chicken tacos (easy peesy…4 chicken breasts, 1 packet of low sodium taco seasoning, jar of salsa…cook on high for 4-5 hours, shred, enjoy!) served with beans and rice

Wednesday: Smokey BBQ Beef Chili, Cornbread, salad

Thursday: Leftover buffet…gotta clean out the fridge so nothing stinks when we get home!

Going GREEN and staying stylish!

110_2873

I just completed an order for 9 sets of cloth napkins for a new customer at my etsy shop. She wants to use less paper in her home and switching to cloth napkins is a great place to start! I am really proud of how they turned out! Beautiful and eco-friendly…doesn’t get any better than that! More eco-friendly items (like coffee cozies, reusable snack bags, and market totes) will be added to the shop soon so check back regularly or convo me if you’d like a custom order.

One a side note…I have quite a few scraps left from these napkins so I think I am going to start working on a string quilt for me!

Happy Monday everyone!

A rainbow of colors!

110_2858

I had 3 custom orders this week…all cloth napkins! One order was for 2 sets, one for 3 sets, and one for 9 sets! That’s 60 napkins total. The two smaller sets are already done and I am working on the larger set today. They are to match the clients Fiestaware and I am loving all the bright and cheery fabrics I get to play with! Fiestaware is very inspiring!

And the winner is…

Happy Mother’s Day to Me!!! My new bag!

110_2788

I have been wanting to make myself a new bag for a while and since Mother’s Day is here I decided to take a break from sewing for other people and whip myself up something pretty! We have been going to Disneyland quite a bit and although we are out of the diaper bag stage, I still need something big to hold everyone’s things! Why is it that the mom always has to hold everything??? Anyhow, a cross-body messenger bag seemed like a good solution. So here it is in all it’s cuteness :) I used the tutorial on All People Quilt but made a few modifications. I made the strap a little longer and patchworky because I am in love with this camera strap but I have no need for it! I also added some extra pockets. There was supposed to be a big pocket along the back of the bag on the outside, but I totally forgot to put it on there…had it all cut and ready to go too. Oh well…maybe I’ll make a matching makeup pouch or something! And last but not least, I added my super cute Sew Chatty label from MommieMadeIt. I am sure to get lots of use out of this bag starting today!!!

Some pics from our weekend…

We are loving the beautiful sunny southern CA weather we’ve had over the last few days and luckily we’ve been able to enjoy it a little!

Carter and I had a date on Friday! We went to Disneyland saw our friend Pluto, FINALLY got to see the new parade, and Daddy met us there when he got off work! Fun day!

Carter has been enjoying digging up bugs on a daily basis so we decided to make him his very own bug jar! This is in hopes that he’ll stop bringing the worms inside to give them a tour of the house!
