{the beginning of a picnic quilt}

I am in the middle of Spring boutique season and have no business quilting instead of working on show inventory, but I ran across this quilt block tutorial yesterday and HAD to try it. Yep. Had to. So I did!

 This is a Whirligig block and I think it's just so cute and PERFECT for a picnic quilt!

I went through all my scraps and pulled coordinating fabrics to match those sweet little strawberries!

For now I have to be happy with just the one block because I have SO much other sewing to do, but I am super excited to finish this quilt and take my boys on a spring picnic!

Have a happy day!

{patchy goodness}

Hey there! I hope your week has gotten off to a happy start! A HUGE THANK YOU to all who came and linked up to Made With Love yesterday! It was Sew Chatty's largest link up to date! So fun! I hope you'll browse through all the awesome projects! It's like a Pinner's dream come true!

Don't worry! It's not too late to join the party! Come link up your projects and recipes HERE.

With the amount of sewing I do for the shop and custom orders, I end up with TONS of scraps! I hate to throw them out so I hoard them like a crazy person until my scrap bin is overflowing. It was getting out of control so I decided to sew up some large pieces of patchwork to use for some upcoming projects {probably this tote}. I love patchwork.

I went through all my scraps and organized them by color. I mixed some aquas and oranges for this piece! Working on a yellow and gray colorway as well as red and aqua! Fun times :)

Hope you have a great day! Happy crafting!

Sew Chatty {behind the scenes}

My mom made me a table runner for Christmas. Fits the coffee table perfectly. I love it!

A Finished Quilt.

110_2950

Ta Da!!! I finished my scrappy log cabin quilt while we were away this weekend. I so love how it turned out. I especially love that it is a traditional quilt pattern with bright funky fabrics and a modern backing, but I think my favorite is the scrappy binding. I quilted it with straight lines on the diagonal with a double line every other…make sense? Now, I just need to label it. I can’t believe I am capable of making something so nice :P

Checked some new books out at the library…

110_2677

After I paid my $17 late fee…I know, I know, I’m very irresponsible…I checked out some new books. I’ve heard good things about the Martha one…couldn’t believe they had it at my tiny little library! Maybe she will give me some new ideas to try out!

Dreaming…

I have been booming with custom orders lately. Not complaining it’s a great problem to have! But alas, I have this gorgeous fabric that I stare at everyday begging me to turn it into a quilt for ME…and sadly I don’t have time to work on it just yet. But someday I will. Until then I will just keeping admiring it and dream of cuddling with it on my comfy couch with a book book and some iced tea…Here is a pic so you can stare at it too. It’s the Dill Blossom line from Robert Kaufman and will be backed in Kona Aqua and bound in a cheery sunshine yellow polka dot print. I got the pattern from Moda Bake Shop. I can’t wait!110_2675
