Time for a little Spring Cleaning…

Last year I followed the Spring Cleaning Party from Simple Mom and got the house in ship shape from top to bottom. I tried to be really good about staying on top of clutter all year so this time around I am just focusing on areas that have gotten a little hectic. Like my son’s room for example

Not a big room and WAY to much stuff. In our busyness it had gotten neglected and even he was saying “Mommy, my room is messy!”…I knew it was time to drop everything else and get in there. Here is before…

And after 3 1/2 hours of decluttering and rearranging (sorry for the bad lighting, but you get the idea!)…

2 Superheroes 1 Princess!

110_2691

I made a few capes this weekend that were custom orders for a boutique that I did recently. They are based on the tutorial from The Long Thread. My son constantly has us tying his blankie around his neck so he can be a superhero so I made these capes like a snuggly blanket with cotton on the outer and flannel lining. I hope the kiddos enjoy them!

Checked some new books out at the library…

110_2677

After I paid my $17 late fee…I know, I know, I’m very irresponsible…I checked out some new books. I’ve heard good things about the Martha one…couldn’t believe they had it at my tiny little library! Maybe she will give me some new ideas to try out!

Dreaming…

I have been booming with custom orders lately. Not complaining it’s a great problem to have! But alas, I have this gorgeous fabric that I stare at everyday begging me to turn it into a quilt for ME…and sadly I don’t have time to work on it just yet. But someday I will. Until then I will just keeping admiring it and dream of cuddling with it on my comfy couch with a book book and some iced tea…Here is a pic so you can stare at it too. It’s the Dill Blossom line from Robert Kaufman and will be backed in Kona Aqua and bound in a cheery sunshine yellow polka dot print. I got the pattern from Moda Bake Shop. I can’t wait!110_2675

My first order from someone I don’t know…YAY!

A few days ago I received an Etsy “convo” from a someone who was looking for cloth napkins for her office. Turns out she works for the CA Association of Food Banks up in the Oakland area. I am so excited to get going on these! Here are the fabrics I chose for her. Hope she likes them as much as I do!

My blog and me…

I am going to give this blog thing another go! I will do my best to post  a few times a week to keep you updated on what’s going on with The Olson’s as well as our menu plan and Sew Chatty news. Stay tuned!
