Happy Friday everyone! I am very excited for this weekend!!! Particularly because the weather is going to be beautiful and we have NOTHING to do!!! I see the beach and Disneyland in my future!

Funny, I don't remember this rather large piece coming with the game. Hmmm.

I made a gift bag from wrapping paper!!! I saw this on Pinterest. Original pin HERE. Much more cost effective than buying those crazy expensive bags! Next time I will try it with brown wrapping paper and have some fun with my sewing machine. I love sewing on paper :)

Carter made me a bracelet. The best kind of handmade accessory if you ask me!

The view in La Jolla as we were driving home from the blogger meetup. San Diego is lovely.

As promised, this is my "after run" smoothie recipe. It's really more of a method than a recipe I guess, but here you go! Skim milk, a nonfat yogurt, and a banana. Break your banana in half and toss it in the blender. Add your yogurt. Take your milk and fill your yogurt cup up about 2/3 of the the way and pour the milk in the blender. Give it a whirl and VOILA...smoothie!

Today is the 100th day of school! The kids gets to wear hats and bring 100 of something. Carter chose 100 sour jelly beans! He inherited his father's love of the sour candy.

Here is the newest Sew Chatty creation! Pleated Pouches for your sunglasses/glasses {will fit your phone too}. I in the process of finishing the rest today. Aren't they cute!!!

{insta-friday} my life in phone pics

It’s been a very fun last few days! Once again I am linking up with the fabulous Jeanette from Life ReArranged for Insta-Friday! Here are some fun (well, I think they’re fun) pics of what’s been happening in the day to day…

We started using Cozi for calendar sharing and this is the family pic of us that I took for our account. My boys are handsome. This is a GREAT app and very handy if you’re psycho crazy busy like me.

I went to a style event at Nordstrom called Personalize Your Style. My friend Alyssa from Rags To Stitches organized it and it was super fun! If you are local, you have to come with me to the next one! As soon as I know when it is, I’ll let you know.

I ran. Yes. I’m a runner now. I can run a mile…downhill…without dying and I think that’s pretty awesome! Yes that’s a fanny pack. Don’t judge me. It’s very useful! I keep my phone in there and my kleenex in case I get sneezy, and some chapstick, and my keys. I know you’re laughing at me, but I don’t care!

Blog Sugar was magical and so was this tiny donut. It was blog conference meets church and it was AMAZING. Check out  my previous post for all I learned. Can’t wait for next year!

Carter and I shared a quesadilla from Taco Bell the other day and the sweet lady wrote us a note right on the wrapper! How cute! That my friends is customer service :)

Just in case you’re wondering, I have an Android phone and use the app Little Photo for my photo editing. My favorite filter is 2 Hand Lens and I use the Slow Lens frame. Enjoy!

{iPad update…via InstaFriday}

Hi there everyone! I hope you all had a wonder full week! We are getting back into the routine of school and homework and meal planning, and chores, and it’s GLORIOUS!

As I mentioned last week, all of the funds were raised for Carter’s iPad so we made the big purchase last Friday! It has been so great! We’ve loaded it with lots of apps that have really helped with the daily struggles that come with the autism. I want to share some of our favorites with you!

The first is an app called Model Me Going Places and it’s FREE. It’s a social story app that can be used to prep kids before heading in to a social situation where good behavior is required. It works really well with Carter! There is another app that we are going to buy soon called Pictello. It’s $14.99. It basically a power point presentation that you can use to design your own social stories for your child’s specific needs by using your own pictures and words.

This is Carter playing Cordy. Cordy is a cute little robot game {with no words, so no scripting…YAYEE!}. The free version comes with 4 levels…which Carter beat in like one sitting so we had to buy the full version! $4.99 but he loves it. We are using it as a reinforcer for good behavior at home/school.

Here are a few other apps that we like…

Education/Behavior: Teach Me First Grade, Visual Cue Lite {great for making visual schedules and reward system}, iWriteWords Lite, Rocket Math, Math Drills Lite, Sight Words {love this one! You can custom make flashcards to help review their spelling list for the week!},  Comic Touch Lite {for iPhone, but it works…this was recommended by the speech therapist}, iEarnedThat {also an iPhone app, but it’s great for setting up a reward system}. 

Games/Reinforcers: Drawing Book, Music Sparkle, TicTac Toe, Coin Dozer, Bubble Shot, Maze, Dare Devil, CMT HD {car racing}, Doodle Find {I love this one!!!}, Fruit Match, Talking Tom, Uno.

Like most boys, he of course loves Angry Birds and I’m sure the giant iPad version is magical, but we are making sure the iPad remains a tool rather than a toy. Do you have any apps that you love that you’d like to recommend to us???

Hi friends! Happy Friday!!! I’m linking up with Jeanette at Life Rearranged for her awesome InstaFriday link party!  Fun times!

My baby boy is in first grade!!!! Someone hold me! He’s growing up WAY too fast.

After I sent the boy off to school, I got to go to a new Bible study. This is the book we are using.

Cute fabric for the iPad cover I am making for Carter. Today is iPad day!!!! In case you didn’t hear…all of the funds were raised for Carter’s iPad. So grateful for AMAZING people like Dana Sears. With her help, $700 was raised to purchase an iPad for my son who has autism.  Truly blessed beyond measure.

Yesterday I got to go to breakfast at the Storyteller’s Café at Disneyland’s Grand California Resort to celebrate the birthday of one of my favorite people in the whole world…my dear friend and pastor’s wife. We had a great time! The food was delish!

After dropping Carter off at OT, I sat outside with a tasty iced coffee and chatted on the phone with a girlfriend. Simple blessings!

Hope you all had a great week too! After I bust out that iPad case, I need to get cranking on my inventory for my show next week! Busy busy as always! Have a great weekend!
