{DIY Valentine's Decor...Crochet Heart Garland}

Hi friends! I hope you've had a fabulous week! Things have been pretty quiet on the blog the last few days, but I'm back to share a super cute garland I made for our mantle!

 I just love how it came together!
 I tried A LOT of heart tutorials before finding one that I really liked. This was the clear winner. You can find it HERE.
 I used a mix of traditional Valentine's Day colors and threw in some non traditional colors too like gray and turquoise. I also used two different sizes of hearts in the garland to mix things up a bit. Each heart is stitched onto the garland at two points making sure they are secure. I've seen some garlands that just have hearts strung on a length of yarn, but I like this method better. You can find the tutorial for the chain HERE.
 I plan on using this sweet thing for years to come!

Love it, but don't' want to make your own? Well you're in luck because I have 10 listed in the shop! Hurry and snag one before they're gone!

Happy stitching friends!

{Crochet Roundup: Great projects for beginners}

I love to crochet during the fall and winter months. There's just something so cozy about curling up on the couch with a quilt and some brightly colored yarn that just makes me so happy!

Are you learning to crochet? Or at least wanting to learn? If you are, I've put together a fun round-up of projects that I think are great for newbies! These projects are all made with basic stitches and will build upon your new found skill. They all come together relatively quickly so you'll be patting yourself on the back in no time!

Here are links to all of these projects:

2. Bow
5. Beanie

The patterns are all really simple to follow and I've made each of them multiple times! Want to see my most recent accomplishments? Ok!

This was my very first crochet blanket and I just adore it! It's HUGE!!!! I made it way bigger than the original tutorial (which is a baby blanket). I ended up using 3 skeins of each color (9 total). I went with the Red Heart Super Saver yarn on this project. I got it on mega sale so the cost of the blanket was under $30. Way cheap! I decided to add a little granny stripe type border to the blanket just to give it a finished look. I love the way it turned out! Really nice Sunday naps have been happening.

My first granny square pillow!!! These were the very first grannies I ever made. I actually made them last summer and it's taken me this long to do something with them! The tutorial that I've linked you to shows you how to sew them together as well. In hindsight, it would have been better to border them all in the same color, but this was my first go and I'm pleased with it. I found a lot of inspiration on Pinterest for pretty pillows, but no great methods for constructing them so I came up with one on my own. Tutorial coming soon :)

I hope you're inspired to learn to crochet! It's so fun I promise!

Have a happy day friends!

{DIY: Coffee Table Makover}

Hi there! I am so pumped to reveal our coffee table makoever with you today!!!

We've had this table for about 8 years. It was a hand me down from some friends of our that had to downsize before they moved to Alaska. Want to see the before?

Not horrible by any means, but I am itching to bring in lots of happy color to our home any way that I can!

My husband did all the dirty work of sanding, painting, distressing, and knob replacement. The paint colors are White Raisin and Splashy. Both by Sherwin Williams. The most perfect shades and yellow and teal. Guess what??? Totally the hubb's idea to paint the drawers a different color! I was going to paint the whole thing yellow, but I LOVE having a contrasting color. So much fun. He's such a smarty pants sometimes.

After painting, my husband distressed the table by beating the heck out of it with a rock and a hammer. The stain he used to shade the distressed areas is a nice pecan which is similar to the color of the original table.

Then he added the new knobs. We got them at World Market.

While he was transforming the table, I made the pretty new runner!

 If you're on Instagram and follow any of the quilting crowd, you've seen the #scrappytripalong block extravaganza. I knew I wanted to get in on that, but I don't have time to commit to a big quilt right now. So I thought, hey, why not make up a few blocks and make a little runner for my fab new table!!!
 All it took was three blocks following the great tutorial over at Quiltville. The blocks were really fun to put together! The first one was kind of stressful just making sure I was doing it right and that everything was lining up properly, but all in all pretty easy. This project really made me miss quilting. I need more hours in the day!
The reverse side is a fun print given to me by my friend Richelle {@richelleparis on IG} and in my opinion, there is nothing cuter than polka dot binding!

That's it! I hope you love it as much as I do.

Have a happy colorful day friends!

{Made With Love Monday}

Happy Monday to you! There are some really fun things coming to blog this week!

Remember last week, when I showed you the work in progress that is our coffee table??? Well it's done and fabulous and looks like it came straight from Anthro. I love it!!! Want another peek?

I'm also working on a roundup of my favorite newbie crochet projects! One of my favorite things that I've made to do date is a really cozy 3 strand afghan. I added a really funky and cute border to it last night and I love it soooo much! It just gave the blanket the sweetest finishing touch. Can't wait to show you!

{Gallery Wall...hoops and letters}

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday to you! I've been doing some fun projects around the house and today I am sharing the first of several gallery wall type clusters I'm doing in our living room!

This was so fun and simple to put together! We've lived in our home for almost 10 years, so it's about time I hung stuff up on the walls, yes?

 Embroidery hoops wrapped in fabric frame some of my favorite bright cheery prints. I bought all the "O's" at Hobby Lobby and have fun plans for them with different textures and such. I'm going to add a few more things to this wall eventually, but for now I think it's a good start!

I can't stop looking at it! It's just so fun and homey. Really cozies things up in here!

Have a happy day friends!

{Mantle Makeover}

Happy New Year friends!!! I am so excited to share this new year with you! I have so many fun ideas and projects to share with you all in the coming months! It's going to be a fun time :)

Fist up...my fresh new mantle makeover!

As soon as Christmas is over, I get bit HARD the the purging and redecorating bug. I crave a clutter free and organized space, but it needs to be homey too.

My mantle is my favorite thing in our home. I just love everything about it and it's SO fun to decorate!

Here's a close up of all the bits and peices.

 Hoops. You can never go wrong with hoops in my book! Pick out some fun fabrics that make you smile. Seriously, how cute is that little fox??? I have a little bit more of that sweet fabric so you'll be seeing more of it :)
 We are in the process of booking a family shoot to get REAL photos taken, but for now, this is the best picture of us. I found a pretty frame at Home Goods and that AWESOME 3 is from a store at the Orange Circle called Eikon. It's AMAZING.
 Vintage books. Mason jar, yarn, lace, roses from our yard.  Purdy.
 This frame was a fun little project! We spray painted a cheap frame and glued a few rows of twine to the inside. Mini clothespins will hold a few favorite pics. I want to get a few Instagrams printed for this. SO cute! And the owl is a fun find from Home Goods. Love him!
This is my very favorite wreath EVER. Burlap, lace, fabric scraps, and a few favorite flowers. I love it all. So scrappy and fabulous!

Happy New Year everyone and HAPPY DECORATING!!!

P.S. Stop by tomorrow for the release of my new crochet pattern...the Mug Sweater. They are SO cute!
